Jade Lord
Jade is a distinguished New York based dance educator, choreographer, and leader, currently shaping the artistic lives of students at P.S./I.S. 66 in Brooklyn. Holding a Master of Arts in Dance Education from the prestigious Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program at Hunter College and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Hofstra University, Jade blends rigorous academic training with a vibrant, community centered approach to the performing arts.
In her current role, Jade oversees the dance department for grades 6 through 8, where she goes beyond technical instruction to foster a deep appreciation for the cultural power of movement. She is responsible for the end-to-end production of seasonal concerts and vital community performances, including celebrations for Black History Month and Juneteenth. Her curriculum emphasizes both skill and composition, empowering middle schoolers to find their unique creative voices. Jade’s commitment to her students and the field was recently recognized by Hunter College with the 2025 Outstanding Contributions to the Program and Citizenry Award.
Jade’s versatility as an educator is rooted in a rich background of diverse teaching experiences. As a Teaching Artist for The Vanaver Caravan, she led fourth grade students through a global exploration of movement, teaching traditional dances from Nigeria, South Africa, Israel, Italy, and Ireland. This global perspective is complemented by her foundational work in Long Island and Brooklyn schools, where she has successfully implemented dance units for every age group, from early elementary through high school.
Beyond the classroom, Jade is a recognized choreographer and leader. Her piece, To the Finish, was selected from a competitive field of undergraduate submissions to represent Hofstra University at the New York State Dance Education Association (NYSDEA) Conference. Her leadership extends into administrative and support roles, such as her work with the Summer Sizzler Arts Pathways Program, where she collaborated with borough arts directors to provide essential resources and team building opportunities for young artists in District 18 (South Brooklyn NYCPS).
A recipient of the Hofstra University Drama and Dance Faculty Leadership Award and the Artistic Director Award from Cooperative Arts High School in New Haven, Jade is a lifelong advocate for the arts. She holds a NYS Professional Certification for Dance PreK through 12. Jade remains dedicated to the belief that dance is a universal language capable of building community, celebrating heritage, and transforming lives.
