Lauren Wood
Lauren Wood was born in Westchester County, New York and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a graduate of Hofstra University and received a B.S. in Dance Education. She is trained in Modern, Ballet, Jazz, African, Hip-Hop, and other folk movements and styles.
In Atlanta she trained at Just Dance Studio (JDS), where she began competitive dancing at 13. During her time at JDS, she performed at multiple Atlanta Hawks games, was featured on W.A.G.S Atlanta, competed at World of Dance, and much more.
During this time Lauren also attended New Manchester High School (NMHS) and was accepted into their Fine Arts Program for Dance. At NMHS she participated in the work-based learning program, where she taught an after-school dance program at local middle schools. She also co-taught the elective dance class for her follow high school classmates.
Lauren has been fortunate enough to return to JDS after graduating the program to teach multiple workshops, lead auditions, assist in the summer program, and choreograph for members on their competition team.
She now works in Arts Administration in New York City as a Student Life Coordinator. As the Student Life Coordinator, she manages the dorm, provides support to the Dean, and assist in the coordinating and building of the wellness program. She loves that her career is aimed to aid young dancers in their path to success within the dance world.
Lauren is excited to begin her fourth season performing with DanceWorks! This will also be her first season choreographing on this amazing community of dancers.
