Mary Kate Conway is a New York City–based choreographer and performer who grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where she was immersed in the competitive dance world from a young age. While developing her contemporary technique, she discovered a passion for choreography and moved to NYC in 2016 to continue both her education and her dance training. She has since performed with various companies throughout the city and frequently teaches workshop classes across the tri-state area.

Mary Kate’s work is driven by a desire to create choreography that feels timeless and kinetic, while connecting dancers from contrasting training backgrounds. Rooted in her queer identity, her work explores the flawed, complex, and often messy nature of the human experience. In addition to live performance, she self-produces and directs dance films to further develop her choreographic voice. Notably, she choreographed a short dance film in collaboration with the Brooklyn Paramount to promote recording artist Perfume Genius’s performance at the venue.

Her choreography has been presented at The Tank Theater, Flair Dance Festival, Chutzpah Dance’s Movement Festival, Anthology 33, and The Vanessa Long Dance Company Showcase. This will be Mary Kate's 10th season performing with DanceWorks, and she is so excited for another opportunity to choreograph for such a welcoming community!
